Kettle Range Meat Company is an independently owned butcher shop and specialty food store focused on locally raised, locally processed farm-to-table meats.
Our team is growing and we're looking for skilled Butchers and Meat Cutters with whole animal butchery experience who are passionate about bringing our premium grass fed and pastured meat to the hungry citizens of Milwaukee.
Job Functions:
Cutting meat for wholesale and for the retail meat case;
Controlling for quality and maintaining product freshness;
Preparing fresh sausages, marinades, and other value-added meat products;
Brining, curing and smokehouse operation;
Packaging and labeling.
Qualifications:
2-3 years meat cutting experience
Knife skills
Basic math skills
Can stand for 8-10 hours
Can lift up to 40 lbs.
Open availability (week days and weekends)
Team oriented
Passionate about butchery
As a Kettle Range butcher, you will be working with whole carcass and primal cuts of premium, locally raised and locally processed grass fed and pastured meats, including beef, pork, lamb and chicken to create retail cuts for the most beautiful and innovative retail meat case in the Midwest.
You should have some experience cutting, trimming, tying, grinding, maintaining an attractive meat case, filling custom orders, and managing inventory. But more than that, you should have a vision for creating an exciting, gourmet, specialty food experience for our customers.
This position is suitable for a junior butcher with solid basic skill who is passionate about deepening his or her knowledge of whole animal butchery, or for an experienced butcher who is ready to take the helm and steer.
