Chemist- I
Job Description:
The Chemist-I will be responsible for performing analytical testing, sample preparation, and instrument calibration to support laboratory operations in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality systems, and regulatory guidelines. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced laboratory environment.
Essential Duties:
Perform analysis using one or more of the following techniques: GC, HPLC, IC, ICP/MS, FTIR, Titration, Gravimetric Analysis, or other techniques
Perform sample preparation, prepare analytical standards, maintain inventory
Calibrate/maintain analytical instruments and perform routine balance, temperature, and pipette verification
Perform routine diagnosis, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
Perform sample processing in accordance with standard operating procedures
Participate in relevant QA/QC ISO audit activities and documentation
Maintain laboratory conditions, analytical, and quality records as required for accreditation/certification and related to analytical work and instrument maintenance
Identify results that require further investigation or discussion with the Department Manager/Supervisor
Participate in OOS investigation and/or CAPA when necessary
Plan and perform work to meet deadlines and expected turn-around times
Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area
Learn new techniques and technologies as appropriate
Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
0-2 years of chemistry testing or relevant work experience
Proven ability to perform standard chemical laboratory techniques
Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to GMP/GLP/GDP
Strong relevant quantitative skill and good conceptual basis in analytical chemistry
High level of computer skills and familiarity with data acquisition software
Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
High level of computer literacy
Education Requirements:
BS degree in Chemistry or related field
High School diploma or equivalent required
Competencies/skill Qualifications:
Must read, write, and speak English, bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Motivated and a self-starter
Detail oriented
Must be flexible with working hours
Physical Requirements:

Employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
