Overview
Azure Cloud Architect role at BDO USA. The Director, CI will lead development, promotion, implementation, migration, and team building for Azure and hybrid cloud solutions. The position requires expertise in core Azure platforms, add-on features, and hybrid cloud integration to propose and lead projects through all client delivery phases. The director will be a knowledge leader in the implementation and/or support of hybrid environments and set the technical direction for the Azure and on-premises Microsoft application platforms. This role involves strong client-facing skills, cloud migration knowledge, and the ability to drive revenue and growth within the cloud practice.
Responsibilities
Identify and lead new Azure business opportunities to expand the practice and communicate opportunities to leadership
Lead marketing and business development activities to promote Cloud in the middle market and within BDO Digital, BDO USA, and partner firms
Collaborate with internal Go-To-Market and sales functions on partnerships, opportunity management, and cross-sell
Work with the BDO sales team to develop statements of work, proposals, and RFP responses for Azure services
Prepare formal and informal presentations for internal/external meetings, webinars, panels, and other speaking opportunities
Develop, design, promote, and implement Azure and hybrid cloud solutions that solve business problems
Architect solutions within Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS) and related hybrid cloud technologies
Lead identity integration and migration activities (e.g., Entra ID, Entra Domain Services, on-premises AD, 3rd party IAM)
Lead assessments and designs using the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Review
Lead migrations to Azure from on-premises, Google Cloud, AWS, or other Azure tenants using migration tools (e.g., Azure Migrate)
Architect and design the full range of Azure Infrastructure products (e.g., Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Arc, Azure Stack, AKS, Monitor)
Architect and design automation of Azure infrastructure with IaC (ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform) managed with Azure DevOps
Develop and design solutions with Defender suite and interaction with the Azure stack
Design solutions with Microsoft 365 services that complement Azure or rely on M365 licensing (Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Sentinel)
Guide complex Azure networking design (DNS, VNETs, RRDs, NSG, SD-WAN, ExpressRoute, VPN, Load Balancers, Application Gateway, Private Endpoint/Link, Firewalls, etc.)
Translate clients’ Azure business/technical needs into executable engagements with design documents, implementation plans, and final reports
Develop and present client roadmaps, health checks, and assessments
Develop project plans, resource plans, establish reporting/metrics, and provide regular client updates
Coordinate all project aspects and manage risks, ensuring timely delivery within budget
Manage project teams and ensure quality of client deliverables
Serve as a client contact for questions and inquiries
Foster growth of an internal Cloud community, sharing knowledge and establishing best-practice frameworks
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise workload of engineers and architects on engagements and review work products
Mentor project team members and provide feedback on work quality and collaboration
Demonstrate leadership and maintain a professional, positive attitude with clients and firm personnel
Education
High School or GED required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
15+ years IT Infrastructure, Information Security, IT or similar professional experience
6+ years of technical infrastructure implementation experience with Azure cloud solutions
5+ years of strong sales experience supporting and managing pipelines
3+ years in cloud and on-premises infrastructure, virtualization, Active Directory, and networking
3+ years of professional consulting experience (preferred)
Software
Azure Resource Manager and related components
Directory/Identity Services (Entra/Azure AD/AD Connect, AD migration)
Azure Migrate or similar migration tools
