Represent clients in EOIR removal proceedings and BIA appeals, with potential federal court work Conduct trauma-informed client interviews; assess eligibility and case strategy Draft briefs, motions, affidavits, and evidentiary submissions Research statutes, regulations, and evolving precedents affecting humanitarian relief Advise clients on options, timelines, and risks; set expectations with care and clarity Partner with senior attorneys and staff to manage a dynamic caseload and deadlines Participate in consultations, hearings, case reviews, and community-facing initiatives Qualifications
JD from an ABA-accredited law school Active bar admission in Maryland, Florida, California (or willingness to obtain in one of those states); California Bar required for local appearances preferred 2+ years of immigration practice with emphasis on removal defense/asylum Strong litigation skills: motion practice, oral advocacy, and evidence development Excellent research, writing, and client counseling abilities Spanish bilingual fluency strongly preferred; additional Portuguese a plus Commitment to immigrant rights, social justice, and trauma-informed advocacy Culture & Firm Appeal
