Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
is responsible for the overall financial management of the organization, ensuring financial sustainability, transparency, and compliance. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will provide strategic financial insight to support decision-making and long-term planning, while overseeing all aspects of budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, grants management, and risk management. Base pay range
$160,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute financial strategies to support organizational goals. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Lead long-term financial planning and sustainability initiatives. Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to leadership, board members, and funders. Monitor cash flow, forecast revenue and expenses, and manage reserves. Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with department heads. Prepare financial forecasts and monitor performance against budget. Accounting & Compliance
Oversee the organization’s accounting systems and ensure compliance with GAAP. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements. Lead the annual audit and coordinate with external auditors. Grants & Fund Management
Monitor and report on restricted and unrestricted funds. Ensure proper allocation and use of grant funds in compliance with donor requirements. Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. Manage insurance, legal, and contractual financial risk. Supervise finance and accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Build capacity within the finance team and provide professional development opportunities. Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. 7–10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP, FASB, etc.). Experience managing complex budgets, multiple funding sources, and grant compliance. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud). Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred: CPA or MBA strongly preferred. Experience working with a Board of Directors and Finance Committee. Knowledge of IRS 990 reporting and fund accounting. Compensation:
$160,000 to $175,000 annually Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications Seniority level
