Overview
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Manager in Boston, MA. Summary: The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team while collaborating cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Compliance departments.
Responsibilities
Manage and process payroll for multi-state and/or international employee populations (hourly and salaried)
Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution, including off-cycle and final pay
Review and reconcile payroll transactions, reports, and general ledger entries
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws
Supervise and mentor payroll staff or processors
Provide training and guidance on payroll systems and procedures
Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll issues
Ensure compliance with IRS, FLSA, and other regulatory requirements
Prepare and file payroll tax reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)
Oversee W-2, 1099, and UFR (Uniform Financial Report) filings where applicable
Support internal and external audits
Administer and optimize payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, SAP, Workday)
Collaborate with IT and HR to implement system updates and integrations
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, including supervisory responsibilities
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, SAP, Workday) and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
Strong understanding of payroll regulations and tax compliance
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
Pay Base pay range: $44.00/hr - $44.00/hr
The pay range is provided by Kforce Inc. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. This range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
