Role Summary: We are seeking a Sales Engineer who will bridge the gap between customers and our manufacturing capabilities. This individual will play a critical role in technical quoting, project scoping, and customer relationship management, while working closely with the engineering and production teams. This position requires someone who can understand technical drawings, interpret specifications, and communicate effectively with both technical buyers and shop floor personnel. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a technical resource during customer interactions, providing guidance on feasibility, tolerances, materials, and processes to attain new sales. Work with internal engineering and estimating teams to provide timely and accurate quotes for custom metal parts. Conduct discovery calls or local on-site visits to understand customer applications and provide tailored solutions to grow sales at MET. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through clear, technical communication and dependable follow-through. Coordinate with production to ensure customer expectations align with capabilities, lead times, and cost structures. Assist in onboarding new customers and managing project handoffs into production. Participate in trade shows, technical walkthroughs, or plant tours when needed. Document customer requirements, changes, and feedback in CRM or ERP systems. Stay current on industry trends, manufacturing techniques, and competitor offerings. Collaborate with team members to improve quoting accuracy, response time, and customer experience. Required Skills & Experience: 3+ years in technical sales, manufacturing engineering, or estimating (preferably in custom metal fabrication). Strong understanding of blueprints, CAD files, and manufacturing drawings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple quotes and customer inquiries at once. Experience working with ERP systems, quoting software, or CRM platforms. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic CAD viewing tools (e.g., SolidWorks eDrawings, AutoCAD viewer, etc.). Bonus Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field. Familiarity with photochemical etching, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, or waterjet cutting. Experience visiting customer facilities or supporting OEM purchasing and engineering teams. What You'll Get: Competitive compensation based on experience.
