Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Long-Term Care Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services, working closely with healthcare providers and patients to facilitate smooth financial transactions. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes. Duties Prepare, review, and submit claims for Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private pay accounts. Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG methodologies. Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government payers. Review and verify patient information, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete. Handle medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies. Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for efficient data management. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and billing practices. Generate and analyze aging reports to follow up on outstanding balances. Assist with month-end closing processes and financial reporting. Protect resident privacy by complying with HIPAA and all facility policies. * Requirements Experience with PointClickCare, MatrixCare, or similar LTC billing platforms. Knowledge of UB-04 forms, EOBs, and CMS billing requirements. Familiarity with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes. Proven experience in medical billing and coding with a strong understanding of medical terminology. Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10) and CPT coding is essential. Experience with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of medical collection processes is an advantage.
