Overview
Commonwealth Primary Care, Inc. is a primary care physician group with seven office locations throughout the Richmond metropolitan area. We are currently seeking a qualified Medical Billing Specialist for our fast paced, high call volume Central Billing Office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in medical office billing. The individual must be a motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Specific duties will include: · Claims follow-up from system generated reports. · Daily claim denial management, including claims correction and resubmission. · Working daily clearinghouse rejection reports. · Reviewing processed claims to ensure proper payments received according to the payer contracts. · Answering phone calls to provide customer service to patients, insurance representatives and clinic employees. · Correcting registration errors on patient accounts. · Setting up payment plans for patients. The ideal candidate will possess the following traits: · Team player who is self-motivated & organized · Willing to learn new things · Ability to handle patients concerns in a calm, collected manner · Proficient in interpreting Explanation of Benefit summaries from multiple payers This position is currently full-time, in-office position. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate billing and collections for medical services provided, contributing to the overall efficiency of our medical office. Duties Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems such as CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10. Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing. Utilize EMR and EHR systems to manage patient information and billing data effectively. Conduct follow-ups on unpaid claims and manage the medical collection process as needed. Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues or discrepancies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and regulations related to medical billing practices. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing medical billing. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related roles within a medical office setting. Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding and its application in billing processes. Proficient in using EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records and billing information. Strong understanding of CPT coding, ICD coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 classifications. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries. Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for accurate documentation and communication within the healthcare environment.
