The Full Charge Bookkeeper will work under the supervision of the Controller to maintain records, general ledgers, and financial reports. They will review and analyze financial statements, assist with budgeting, perform general bookkeeping, complex accounting activities and financial analysis; ensure the integrity of accounting information with adjusting entries and rigorous analysis of system reports. The Bookkeeper provides high-level support for corporate staff and onsite managers including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, preparation and posting of journal entries. They serve as bookkeeper for a portfolio of mobile home communities. They exercise independent judgment in the resolution of administrative and accounting problems. They prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly work papers and conduct reconciliations of GL accounts to subsidiary ledgers and reconciliation of cash receipts
Review, prepare and maintain consolidated internal/external financial statements.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
Record periodic transactions, including asset acquisitions/dispositions and distributions/contributions of ownership interests.
General Leger account analysis
Cash disbursements (accounts payable)
Preparation of financial statements in cash basis
Research and reconcile invoices and statements
Aid in training accounting team members.
Assist with maintenance/setup of accounting database software, including property, commitment and bank account setup, and lease administration as needed.
Manage monthly bank and accounts reconciliation and management fee billing processes.
Assist Controller with annual audit preparation and coordination.
Manage month-end close procedures and execution.
Respond to accounting inquiries through research and interpretation of financial information.
Prepare and post general journal entries as needed.
Year-end tax form (1099/1098) preparation for various business entities.
Assist in annual budget preparation with requested financial information and analysis.
Assist with development and implementation of accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
Participate in continuing education opportunities read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
Communicate with Property Supervisors, Owners, On-site Managers, etc.
Filing
ManageAmerica – assisting with on-site manager with resident ledger reconciliations
Preparing construction service agreements and collecting vendor insurance/W9
Assist with furthering miscellaneous accounting and organizational objectives by completing related assignments as needed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Superior Analytical and problem-solving skills to review data and ensure proper accounting procedures have been followed.
Ability to work discretely with confidential information.
Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
Working knowledge of accounting principles/internal controls and how to apply them.
Ability to work autonomously and independently while meeting deadlines through proper time-management.
Accurate use of grammar, spelling and punctuation in all communications.
Strict adherence to the attendance policy is required. Attendance and punctuality are an essential function to this position.
2 years minimum accounting experience (QuickBooks experience preferred).
Thorough understanding of financial statements.
Ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
Property management experience preferred, manufactured home community experience highly desirable but not required.
