General Definition of Work
The graphic production manager, under general supervision, performs supervisory work with limited decision-making discretion related to the leadership and team management of the Graphic Production Center through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, including attention to detail and commitment to quality standards, qualify the candidate to lead a team of employees and continue the department's mission statement to provide world-class customer service and competitive advantage while promoting greater achievement in the classroom. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Director, Graphic Production Center.

Pay Grade NC 17 Salary/Full-time, 12 months

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
Manage inventory and daily production schedule while overseeing production of printing a wide range of items including but not limited to brochures, newsletters, posters, banners, student curriculum manuals and all district staff and student badges
Recommends and assists with implementation of goals and guardrails of the district
Assumes responsibilities of the Director in his/her absence
Manage accounts for district clients and community partners by collaborating and providing high quality products to meet their printing needs through providing consultation, advice and cost estimates for clients
Coordinate shipping and distribution to multiple sites within the district
Manage and schedule printing jobs to meet client deadlines
Ensure quality standards and safety regulations are met
Participate in the selection of staff, and supervise and provide continual guidance and training opportunities to production staff in a fast-paced environment
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with printing equipment
Monitor and maintain inventory of printing supplies and consumables
Implement and maintain efficient workflows and processes
Oversee operator maintenance and coordinate service calls with vendors
Perform related work as assigned or required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of Management Information Services: Printers Plan and Print Shop Pro
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and printing-related software
Knowledge of principles of supervision and leadership techniques
Knowledge of cost control practices, time management and personnel resources management
Knowledge of printing processes and techniques
Skilled in digital, offset and roll-fed printing technologies
Skilled in excellent project management and problem-solving skills
Skilled in operating and troubleshooting print production equipment
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while using analytical, critical, and deductive reasoning skills
Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to recommend and implement measures to improve production
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships; work collaboratively within and across schools, departments and community partners
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training in printing and graphic arts
Two (2) years of increasing responsibility experience in printing service supervision
Four (4) years of increasing responsibility management of an in-plant printing facility with an emphasis on digital output devices within a school district environment
Associate degree preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience
