S3, Inc. is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the PEO Aviation team on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. This position is contingent on the award of a contract. The Utility Helicopters Project Office (UHPO) manages the lifecycle of the Armys utility helicopter fleet, including acquisition, development, production, and sustainment of UH-60 Black Hawk and LUH helicopters. The SME will provide strategic insight and technical expertise to support Army Aviation readiness, sustainment, and modernization efforts. Responsibilities Serve as a trusted SME, providing authoritative guidance across acquisition, logistics, and technology domains for UHPO aviation systems. Contribute to program documentation such as acquisition strategies, SOWs, RFPs, cost estimates, technical data packages, and specifications. Provide expertise on aircraft systems and subsystems, including airframe, avionics, survivability, flight controls, aeromechanics, and propulsion. Support lifecycle management, sustainment planning, and modernization initiatives for Army rotary wing platforms. Integrate best practices like MBSE and MOSA. Partner with government stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure program success.
Qualifications
Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Engineering or a related technical field; or High School Diploma with 15 years of relevant experience. Experience with UH-60 Black Hawk and/or UH-72 Lakota systems. Experience supporting PEO Aviation and/or UHPO core systems. Knowledge of rotary wing technical requirements, sustainment, and acquisition processes. Strong communication skills, including briefing senior leaders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance. Experience drafting and reviewing DoD acquisition documentation. Knowledge of Army aviation logistics, sustainment, and modernization programs. Familiarity with DoD acquisition regulations (DoDI 5000 series). Willingness to travel up to 10% for mission activities.
