Overall Job Summary The Accountant II is responsible for the accurate, complete and timely processing of journal entries, thorough analyses of the general ledger account activities and other monthly analytical closing activities. This position also will be required to provide detailed responses to assorted inquiries from various departments as well as provide supporting documentation and insight for the financial reporting process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%) Create and update moderately complex allocations and accrual analyses via review of general ledger activity and communication with key contacts in other departments; prepare journal entries that support accurate and complete financial statements; maintain all support necessary. Prepare detailed account reconciliations via analysis and review of general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness of amounts/balances. Review monthly income statement and balance sheet activity to identify unusual trends or variances and provide detailed explanations for significant items observed. Research and respond to any questions that arise from executive or department management during the financial statement review process. Ensure internal control documentation as well as department policies and procedures are updated as needed based on changes in accounting processes. Assist with providing information and responding to inquiries from the Company's Internal and External Audit functions. Required Qualifications Experience : 2 years of experience in an industry accounting, public accounting or internal auditing role. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered. Professional Certifications : Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or CPA candidate preferred. Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities Proficiency using Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. SAP enterprise software and/or Business Objects reporting software preferred. Knowledge of SEC requirements, GAAP and new accounting pronouncements Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion Working Conditions Normal office working conditions Physical Requirements Sitting Standing (not walking) Walking Lifting up to 10 pounds Disclaimer This job description represents an overview of the responsibilities for the above referenced position.
