Buyer Full Time, Direct Hire 100% Onsite Northern Chicago, IL $70,000 $80,000 base High Sierra Talent is seeking a
Buyer
to join a growing, global wine and spirits company based in Northern Chicago. This is a full-time, onsite role where youll manage purchasing operations, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning across a diverse product rangeincluding apparel, displays, barware, and branded merchandise. If you have strong supplier management skills, advanced Microsoft Excel expertise, and thrive in a fast-paced, product-driven environment, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of procurement within a dynamic and employee-focused organization. Responsibilities
Execute purchasing in line with bi-annual forecasting and distribution schedules Maintain inventory reports; conduct analysis on stock levels, pricing, and inbound shipments Recommend product assortment changes based on sales trends and stock movement Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing Manage ERP alignment across catalogues, systems (NetSuite preferred), and warehouse records Build and maintain vendor relationships to ensure long-term supply chain stability 35 years experience
in a buying, procurement, or planning role Proven supplier negotiation skills, including international vendor management (Asia sourcing experience a plus) Strong background in inventory control, order management, and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
(VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field Detail-oriented with strong reporting and catalogue accuracy skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Consumer goods experience preferred, but not required
Nice to Have
Experience in the
wine, spirits, or beverage industry Background in
merchandise planning or procurement for retail/wholesale Familiarity with SIT reporting or additional procurement planning tools
