Job Summary: Location: Nebraska Methodist College Address: 720 N. 87th St. - Omaha, NE Work Schedule: This position will normally work a schedule between 8:00am and 5:00pm. However, earlier and/or later in the day might be required occasionally. Oversees an assigned caseload of credit program students, serving as a primary contact for students as they engage in ongoing academic advising and retention processes through graduation. This position plans, coordinates, and facilitates student retention, onboarding, and academic advising projects and events. Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Engage credit program students in ongoing academic advising processes through graduation. Facilitate student referral to College/campus resources and external resources as appropriate. Create individualized student academic plans. Provide accurate information and promote student self-reflection. (35%)
Plan, coordinate, lead, and participate in OSE student retention initiatives. Manage projects for event operations, specialized student populations, and communication plans. Assist the Director of Advising Services with student tracking, assessment, and process improvement. (35%)
Collaborate with NMC stakeholders regarding advising and Office of Student Engagement (OSE) efforts. Communicate with NMC stakeholders, working closely with academic program administration and faculty. (10%)
Routinely utilize graphic user interfaces in multiple applications software systems. Access, document, enter, organize, and report data and information, to include student record information. (10%)
Understand NMC policies and processes; facilitate employee and student understanding of NMC policies and procedures. Examples include academic program requirements and standards, college catalog, transfer agreements, FERPA. (5%)
Participate in professional development and training. Identify department and individual professional development and training needs. Plan, create, and lead advising training and professional development. (5%)
Schedule: This position will normally work a schedule between 8:00am and 5:00pm. However, earlier and/or later in the day might be required occasionally. Job Description: Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
Master's Degree in Academic Advising preferred.
Focus in Higher Education, Sociology, Psychology, Leadership, Human Services, Social Work, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum three years in postsecondary education or related experience required.
Academic Advising and/or Student Affairs experience preferred.
License/Certification: NA
