Sr. IT Systems Analyst, School Of Pharmacy
All full-time university staff are eligible for VCU's robust benefits package that includes: comprehensive health benefits, paid annual and holiday leave granted up front, generous tuition benefit, retirement planning and savings options, tax-deferred annuity and cash match programs, employee discounts, well-being resources, abundant opportunities for career development and advancement, and more. The School of Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a Senior Information Technology Analyst. PharTech, the IT team for the VCU School of Pharmacy, is modernizing how we deliver support. We're automating routine work, streamlining workflows, and scaling a mixed environment across Windows, macOS, and a growing virtual desktop footprint. We're looking for a Senior Information Technology Analyst who loves solving problems, building smart automations, and improving the day-to-day experience for teaching and research faculty, staff, and students. Position Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with other support members to provide endpoint support for Windows and macOS (troubleshooting, configuration, access, and lifecycle). Triage and resolve tickets in KACE with clear, timely communication. Manage endpoints at scale via JAMF, Intune, and SCCM/MECM; ensure device compliance with VCU policies. Design and implement scripts/workflows that reduce volume, speed resolution, and improve transparency in ticket routing and workload distribution. Harden & maintain endpoints (encryption, patching, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), access controls) in partnership with infrastructure/security. Drive policy at the edge using Group Policy, JAMF configuration profiles, and Intune settings. Support our desktop/VDI stack (thin clients/Wyse, Citrix/Citrix Cloud Image Management) across Richmond and Inova; assist with expansion projects. Build SOPs and service standards that eliminate one-offs and enable repeatability. Collaborate with the Senior Instructional Technologist and faculty on device setup, classroom tech, and research workstation needs (including some Linux endpoints). Evaluate tools/approaches that improve efficiency, user experience, and scalability. Required Qualifications: Significant experience supporting Windows and macOS in an enterprise or academic environment. Hands-on administration with one or more: JAMF, Intune, SCCM/MECM. Proficiency with PowerShell and at least one Mac automation method (e.g., bash/zsh, AppleScript). Working knowledge of Active Directory/Azure AD and Group Policy. Experience with an ITSM/ticketing platform (KACE preferred) and building SOPs/workflows. Customer-first mindset with strong troubleshooting and communication skills. Exposure to VDI/thin client environments (e.g., Wyse Management Studio, Citrix, Citrix Cloud Image Management). Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in CS/IS or related field (or equivalent experience). Jamf 200 (or equivalent) certification/experience. Demonstrated impact of automating manual processes and improving service KPIs. Experience in higher-ed or research computing environments. Comfort supporting Linux workstations/apps.
