H2M architects and engineers is seeking a Department Manager to join our Melville, NY office. The role directs projects, manages client relations, and develops and manages the Mechanical team (at various levels) on overall HVAC design and project management responsibilities. The position involves managing Mechanical/HVAC design work for both public and private clients in collaboration with architects, civil engineers, and environmental scientists. The employment offer may deviate from this range based on factors such as experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography, and related certifications. The stated salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Job Responsibilities

Direct and manage the Mechanical Engineering department, overseeing staff workload and ensuring timely completion of Mechanical/HVAC projects in coordination with other MEP teams and disciplines within the firm. Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules; assess overall project and financial performance. Supervise projects and coordinate with other engineering and architecture departments within the firm. Prepare construction drawings and specifications for public and private bidding. Build and maintain client relationships; communicate with clients in support and coordination of all project activities. Provide technical leadership, production scheduling, quality control, and cost proposals. Participate in business development initiatives and efforts. Nurture client relationships, including attending meetings and resolving problems as they arise. Lead or attend project meetings related to construction administration; review contractor submittals and provide feedback as needed. Perform other duties to grow, enhance, and lead the Mechanical Engineering team and MEP discipline. Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Professional Engineer license required. 20+ years of overall MEP experience with a strong focus on HVAC projects in a consulting firm; at least 10 years in project management and staff development/oversight. Prior experience working with local municipalities/government agencies. Demonstrated technical leadership and management skills; ability to lead Mechanical/HVAC staff at various levels. Ability to manage and prioritize Mechanical projects of varying complexity; proven ability to develop, grow, and enhance client relationships. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
