Responsibilities of the Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster
Conduct thorough investigations to determine compensability on claims, leveraging all available resources for accuracy. Develop and implement effective claim resolution strategies, consulting with management when needed. Facilitate safe and timely return-to-work programs for injured employees, ensuring medical treatments align with accepted injuries. Apply knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to coordinate appropriate resources. Evaluate and negotiate disputed claims, and assist in handling litigated claims with minor issues. Ensure compliance with Claims Quality Guidelines, handling instructions, and regulatory requirements while maintaining active licenses. Set reserves accurately and issue timely payments, including projecting future benefits such as scarring and loss of use. Identify and manage potential Medicare and other exposures early in the claim process.
Qualifications of the Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster
Bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years of workers’ compensation claims experience. Strong knowledge of WC law, claims processes, and medical treatment guidelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and a customer-focused approach. Reliable transportation for occasional local errands.
