**Role Purpose: **A Machinist III performs changeovers and set up repeat jobs that require minor process revisions , such as updated drawings, and/or new fixtures. This role executes full setups using pre-existing programs while ensuring parts meet spec and are ready for production. Includes all responsibilities and skills of Machinist I & II, plus: **Key Responsibilities:
** Set up repeat or variant jobs where the process differs slightly from previously certified runs.
Dial in machine setups using existing CNC programs.
Adjust tooling, offsets, or G-code as needed to meet dimensional requirements.
Validate part conformance through in-process checks and prepare the job for Quality certification.
Maintain accurate setup records in ProShop, including photos, probing routines, and notes.
Handle probing, tool verification, and fixture alignment independently.
Remain dedicated to setup tasks during prove-out and do not run other machines concurrently.
**Scope & Boundaries:
** Priority of this role: Setup machines, then operate
Owns setup responsibility for repeat jobs with minor changes.
Uses pre-programmed CNC code; does not create new programs in Mastercam .
May not delegate work until setup is certified to run.
Maximum Work order risk level: MEDIUM
**Accountability Expectations:
** Complete setups within ProShop target times
Zero unresolved adjustments after setup handoff
All ProShop setup fields fully completed and accurate
First part yield at or below a 0.0
Setup times, Actual vs Target. At or below 110%
**Required Skills & Experience:
** 4+ years of CNC machining and setup experience
Strong troubleshooting and setup capability across multiple machines and part types
Familiar with fixture variants, drawing changes, and probing refinements
Confident editing machine-side code for offsets, call order, or speeds/feeds
Skilled in blueprint reading, GD&T, and critical feature interpretation
You should be proficient in: GD&T CNC Tooling G-Code M-Code Machine Setups for Production Runs Machines & technologies you'll use: CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) (Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Hurco, Brother, Makino, Doosan, Kitamura, Dmg Mori Seiki) CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Fanuc, Matsuura, Mitsubishi, Mazak, Haas, Kitamura, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki)
