Job Description Description:Job Title: Documentation Engineer Department/Group: Engineering Location: Libertyville, IL Level/Salary Range: $75K-85K Travel Required: None Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Documentation/BOM (Bill of Materials) Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is critical in maintaining accurate product documentation and managing BOMs across a variety of LED lighting products. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure product data integrity, change management, and documentation compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Create, maintain, and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing LED lighting products. Ensure product data and documentation (e.g., drawings, specifications, datasheets, revision history) are accurate, complete, and up to date. Implement and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and document control processes. Work closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance. Maintain product records and part-numbering systems in ERP/PLM systems. Ensure BOM structure aligns with manufacturing processes and supports cost control. Support the introduction of new products (NPI) by preparing and releasing documentation packages. Review supplier documentation and ensure compatibility with internal requirements. Audit and improve documentation practices to meet ISO or other applicable standards. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. 2+ years of experience in BOM management, product documentation, or configuration control in a manufacturing environment (preferably LED lighting or electronics). Experience with ERP systems Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with CAD software a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with LED lighting components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes is a strong plus. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in ISO 9001-compliant environments. Knowledge of RoHS, UL, DLC, and other LED lighting standards. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
