Job Description Description:Job Title: Engineering Technician Department/Group: Engineering Location: Libertyville, IL Level/Salary Range: $65K-75K Travel Required: None Position Type: Full-Time Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Engineering Technician to support the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of LED lighting products. This role bridges the gap between engineering and production, playing a critical part in ensuring high-quality, innovative lighting solutions are delivered to the market efficiently and effectively. Key Responsibilities: Assist engineers in the development, prototyping, and testing of LED lighting products and systems Build, assemble, and modify product prototypes or samples based on engineering specifications Perform electrical and photometric testing of LED fixtures, drivers, and components using appropriate lab equipment (e.g., integrating sphere, goniophotometer, power analyzers) Document test procedures, results, and product data accurately Provide technical support in root cause analysis, failure mode evaluation, and product improvements Collaborate with production, purchasing, and quality departments to transition new products into manufacturing Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and ensure a safe, organized lab environment Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and datasheets Support compliance testing efforts for UL, DLC, Energy Star, and other standards Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance, cost, and quality. Requirements: Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or related field (bachelor’s degree a plus) 2+ years of experience in a similar engineering or technical role, preferably in the LED lighting or electronics industry Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and tools Basic understanding of LED technology, lighting controls, and thermal management Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and drawings Detail-oriented with a proactive and collaborative work style Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with lighting standards (UL, DLC, LM-79/LM-80, Title 24) Experience working in a lighting test lab environment Knowledge of PCB assembly, soldering, or circuit troubleshooting Benefits: Competitive salary Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for professional growth Approved By: Kevin Osowski Date: 5/15/25 Last Updated By: Kevin Osowski Date: 5/15/25 Requirements:
