Parish Services Assistant Permanent Full Time Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Strafford, PA

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THIS POSITION Maintain efficient operations in the Parish Office and serve as the first face of the parish. Provide Parish staff with continued support on a varied range of clerical, secretarial, and administrative issues as it relates to parish operations and parishioner needs. This employee is a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Desk Reception: Answer front door and phones Maintain Mass Book and intention requests (Mass Cards, Vigil Lamps, etc.) Handle requests for Sacramental Certificates Point of contact for office machines (trouble shooting & supplies) and maintenance supply inventory Mail Distribution and Parish-wide bulk mailings Create weekly Parish Bulletin and submit to publishing company Maintain sick/deceased list Coordinate Funeral arrangements and maintain Memorial donation records Scan, Fax and Photocopy documents Update and maintain databases Support liturgical services and other sacramental rites through documentation, correspondence, creating
programs/booklets/certificates,
and other elements for Sacramental and liturgical celebrations General support of major parish activities and liturgical events Assist with data collection for various parish and Archdiocesan reports
Qualifications: Excellent administrative, time-management and organizational skills. Professional, pleasant and respectful disposition across in-person and technical formats; strong written and verbal communication skills. Patient and calm demeanor at all times. Ability to work efficiently and cooperate harmoniously with others to achieve a common goal. Attention to detail and willingness to learn. Creative and problem-solving orientation. Strong command of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) Strong understanding of online platforms including databases (for example, ParishDataSystems) and willingness to learn the complexities and capabilities of these systems.
Education/Experience Minimum of high school diploma; some college or further education preferred. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in an administrative environment.
