Tennis Shop Attendant

SUMMARY The Pro Shop Attendant is responsible for greeting customers and signing in tennis players. The Pro Shop Attendant will also be responsible for opening and closing duties of the Tennis Pro Shop. Answering calls and coordinating reservations for court times. The Pro Shop Attendant collects fees associated with tennis. This position also requires stocking the merchandise, keeping the shop clean and promoting the merchandise to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist members and guests with tennis apparel, racquet, and accessory purchases with a polished, professional demeanor Maintain the presentation of all retail displays, folding and restocking merchandise, and ensuring all products are clean, current, and appealing Accurately operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for all purchases, returns, and member charges Assist with monthly inventory checks, receiving new merchandise, and tagging items Greet all members and guests warmly upon entry to the Tennis Shop Handle member inquiries, returns, and exchanges professionally and efficiently. Assist with court reservations, private lesson bookings, and racquet stringing requests (or coordinate with staff for fulfillment) Communicate professionally and clearly regarding tennis programs, event sign-ups, and club policies Support tennis league matches, tournaments and social events by preparing materials, prizes, refreshments, and registration areas Answer phones and respond to inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner Maintain a clean and organized shop environment at all times Assist with daily opening and closing duties including balancing the register, restocking supplies, and preparing for the next day’s activities Maintain records for lessons, court usage, and member preferences Recommend and purchase tennis shop merchandise based on member knowledge, feedback and trends. Follow up on all special orders making sure customers are aware of the receipt of their orders in accordance with established procedures. Ensure accounting functions including invoicing, expense tracking, and reporting are completed accurately and timely. Responsible for efficient and friendly customer service throughout the pro shop, accurately ringing up charges at the register and properly checking in tennis players prior to play. Responsible for answering Tennis Pro Shop calls and emails and greeting members. Assists members with ball machine set up as needed. Knowledgeable in club programs and assist in promoting events and programs. All other duties as assigned. Requirements:
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have previous experience in a customer service and or administrative role. Excellent communication skills and customer service skills required. Must be detail oriented, organized, multi-task oriented and possess excellent communication skills. Must be computer proficient. Knowledge of windows-based programs such as Word, Excel. Must be able to use email and utilize internet. Knowledge of Point-of-Sale Systems with experience using Northstar Club Management Software preferred. Must be member-focused; delighted to meet the expectations and requirements of members and their guests. Possess high energy and a genuine desire to interact actively with the membership on a professional and hospitable level. Must possess strong visual and merchandising skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledgeable in the game of Tennis preferred. First Aid/CPR/AED Certified preferred.
