Summary/Objective: The Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the cost, time, materials, and labor required for projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, collaborating with vendors and subcontractors, and preparing detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals. The Estimator plays a critical role in ensuring project profitability and timely delivery by providing precise and competitive estimates.
Essential Functions: • Ability to identify commercial frames, doors and hardware products. • Review and analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates. • Research and source pricing from vendors and subcontractors. • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements. • Prepare bid proposals, schedules, and timelines based on project requirements. • Monitor and update estimates throughout the project lifecycle as needed. • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and assess risks associated with projects. • Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, and other relevant documentation. • Stay current with industry trends, material costs, and labor rates. • Other duties as assigned
Work Environment: • Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits as needed. • Sitting, standing and walking intermittently • Indoor office environment, temperature controlled • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines Requirements:
Competencies: • Proven experience as an estimator in construction, manufacturing, or a related industry. • Familiar with Division 8 specifications and construction industry. • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Experience using industry specific, detail-oriented software (Pro-Tech) preferred. • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail. • Strong communication and negotiation skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Self-directed, accountable for results and proactive; independent problem solver
Education and Experience: • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors’ Degree in related field preferred • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the
[construction/manufacturing]
industry. • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level, bilingual a plus
Expected Hours of Work: This role is considered full-time working approximately 40 hours per week and is exempt from overtime.
