Join a dynamic healthcare organization in the Pacific Northwest region as an Accommodation & Leave Specialist. This role is essential in managing employee leave and accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations such as FMLA, ADA, and related laws. You will support a diverse healthcare workforce by providing compassionate, consistent, and legally compliant leave administration to promote employee well-being and maintain smooth operations.
Position Summary
As an Accommodation & Leave Specialist, you will administer various leave programs including FMLA, ADA, disability leaves, military leave, and other statutory leaves. Your responsibilities include reviewing and approving leave requests, collaborating with employees, healthcare managers, and medical providers to assess accommodations, and maintaining confidential records in compliance with privacy laws like HIPAA. You will also provide expert guidance and training to supervisors and HR partners, monitor leave trends, and coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure seamless leave processing and return-to-work transitions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage leave of absence programs for healthcare staff, ensuring adherence to legal and organizational policies. Evaluate and approve or deny leave and accommodation requests based on eligibility and regulations. Collaborate with employees, managers, medical providers, and vendors to obtain documentation and determine accommodations. Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with healthcare privacy standards. Provide training and guidance on leave laws and accommodation processes specific to healthcare settings. Monitor leave trends to support workforce planning and risk mitigation. Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leadership throughout leave and accommodation processes. Coordinate with payroll, benefits, and disability vendors for smooth leave administration. Assist with audits, investigations, and reporting related to leave compliance. Stay current on evolving healthcare regulations and employment laws to update policies proactively. Education & Experience
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of human resources experience, including at least 2 years managing employee leave and accommodations. Experience in healthcare settings preferred but not mandatory. Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are preferred. Requirements & Skills
Thorough knowledge of FMLA, ADA, disability regulations, and healthcare privacy laws like HIPAA. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and diplomatically. Strong analytical skills to interpret medical documentation and apply complex regulations. Proficiency in HRIS, leave management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to multitask, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare environment.
