The Systems Administrator is responsible for the stability, security, and performance of Gelson's enterprise infrastructure across retail, warehouse, and corporate environments. This hybrid role is weighted toward Systems Administration and Network Administration, with key responsibilities in server infrastructure, virtualization, backup/recovery, automation, and identity management. They maintain the computing environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring system performance, and participating in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization. System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company: The position supports a collaborative infrastructure environment across Gelson's, Marukai, Vanshow, and PPRM Hawaii, while maintaining standardized, ITIL-aligned operational practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Systems Administration

Maintain and administer Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and secure access management. Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud environments (Microsoft 365, Azure). Perform system monitoring, analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Install and upgrade servers, operating systems, and applications; configure and manage virtual servers and integrate automation processes. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, documenting problems and solutions. Provide documentation and technical specifications for new or upgraded infrastructure. Support user provisioning, folder permissions, and secure file access. Implement and manage automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell) for routine tasks. Perform and/or coordinate regular backup operations, disaster recovery, and failover procedures. Act as an escalation point for Help Desk and desktop support when issues require infrastructure-level expertise. Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software. Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance Network Administration

Deploy, configure, and manage enterprise-grade network equipment (Arista and Meraki switches, firewalls, and wireless). Configure and maintain VLANs, routing, ACLs, QoS, and VPNs (SD-WAN, MPLS). Monitor network health and performance using tools such as Arista CloudVision, Meraki Dashboard, WhatsUp Gold, and SolarWinds. Document network changes, port mappings, and bandwidth capacity across stores, warehouses, and corporate offices. Collaborate with infrastructure team members to manage WAN connectivity and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Coordinate with vendors and low-voltage contractors for cabling, installations, and upgrades. Follow ITIL change management processes for all network maintenance and upgrades. Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience acceptable. Associate degree with strong systems/network experience considered. Experience

Minimum 4 years of systems administration experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Microsoft 365/Azure). At least 2 years of enterprise network administration experience, preferably in multi-site environments. Experience supporting retail or warehouse IT environments is highly desirable. Certifications (Preferred)

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware VCP, or equivalent systems-focused certifications. CCNA, Arista ACE, or Network+ (for networking). ITIL v4 Foundation. Other Requirements

Valid driver's license. Occasional travel to Gelson's, Marukai California, and Vanshow stores/distribution centers. Ability to rack and stack infrastructure equipment. Conduct site visits to document, maintain, and support network hardware. Participation in after-hours maintenance and on-call rotation. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in wiring closets or elevated locations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

Technical Strong expertise in Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, VMware, and Microsoft 365/Azure administration. Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell). Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup solutions, and server performance monitoring. Working knowledge of Arista EOS, Meraki Dashboard, and enterprise networking principles (routing, VLANs, ACLs, VPNs). Familiarity with ITIL practices (incident, change, problem management). Communication

Salary Range $114,149 - $135,017
