The Prince George's County Office of the State's Attorney is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill vacant Administrative Aide 1 G13 position, in the District Court Administrative Support Unit. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply. This is a dually allocated support position in which the incumbent will provide entry level administrative and legal support and assistance to our Administrative Support Units. The incumbents will perform routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities under the close supervision of the Unit Chiefs. The Office of the State's Attorney strives to secure justice for all residents through firm, fair and consistent prosecutions with the highest level of experience, integrity and professionalism. The Office will be responsive to the very diverse community of Prince George's County, treating every person with dignity and respect. The State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is responsible for serving nearly one million residents of Prince George's County. The SAO's legal department is divided into multiple divisions, each of which has jurisdiction over different facets of criminal law. Examples of work include handling and coordinating a variety of complex administrative functions and activities within the assigned unit, preparing subpoenas for witnesses and police officers for court hearings, preparing legal documents pertaining to the preparation of criminal trial cases, providing authorized case information accurately, and performing tasks and duties assigned that may not be listed explicitly in the position description, but are within the general, occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the incumbent's work class. Qualifications include a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate with coursework in typing, office practices or other related clerical subjects, one (1) year of advanced diverse and/or technical clerical experience, and six (6) months of experience working with the public. Preferred qualifications include comprehensive knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, ability to create and edit various memoranda and business communications, ability to maintain a professional image with face-to-face contact with division staff, County Government Officials, vendors, and the public, ability to exercise a professional approach and deportment on telephone communications, including routing calls, written correspondence, email, etc., ability to take the initiative, use good judgment, exercise independent decision-making, and provide excellent customer service. Job location is 14735 Main Street, Suite M3404, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Conditions of employment include passing an administered Administrative Aide exam, meeting all training and performance standards and demonstrating proficiency as required by the agency, wearing and using agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, successfully passing preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, and being willing and able to serve as an essential employee.
