Pay Range:

$41.44 - $67.44 per hour Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush's anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.

Summary: Job Summary: This position is responsible for leading research information and knowledge services, overseeing innovative library instruction and information literacy programs, providing faculty outreach and assessing, planning, coordinating and evaluating educational initiatives in the library, and supervising staff of research informationists/librarians. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Other information: Required Job Qualifications: • ALA accredited MLS degree. • Membership in the Medical Library Association AHIP (Association of Health Information Professionals); either actively held, or in-process. • Five years of experience providing research and instruction support in an academic library. • Knowledge of trends and issues in contemporary research services, academic library user education, assessment tools and practices, and information literacy. • Knowledge of user experience principles and research; familiarity and experience with emerging technologies and social media. • Strong student-centered philosophy. • Demonstrated leadership, managerial, mentoring and organizational skills. • Demonstrated initiative in creation of new and innovative library services. • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. • Proficiency in use of print and electronic resources; and experience in implementing web-based technologies in reference or instructional services. Preferred Job Qualifications: • Five years of experience providing research and instruction support in an academic library in a healthcare setting. • Two years of direct or indirect supervisory experience. • Second masters degree in a relevant subject area • Background in STEM or particular areas of curricular concentration at the University. Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities: • Provide vision and leadership for the planning, delivery, and ongoing assessment of research, information and instructional services, in order to anticipate and meet the needs of the university community in a rapidly changing environment • Work with other librarians, university faculty, and administration to develop a vision for education and instruction • Actively participate in the development and delivery of reference, research, consultative, and user education services to students and faculty, and staff, in the library, online, and in the classroom; oversee the creation of research and instructional resources, including research guides, course guides, tutorials, webinars, and other resources • Supervise, evaluate and mentor instruction, reference, and research support librarians and coordinate participation of other library staff who assist with reference, research, systematic review support, and instruction • Actively participate in instruction, reference, and research support activities as needed, including developing and delivering instruction sessions, meeting with and working directly with patrons, constructing and delivering literature searches, and supporting systematic reviews. • Keep abreast of trends and developments regarding new tools relevant to instruction and research, including databases, resources, and AI tools. • Participate in library scholarly communication, including research and publication in the field, attendance and presentation at regional and national conferences, and participation in relevant professional societies. • Coordinate instructional outreach efforts and foster effective collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to increase awareness of library resources and promote their enhanced use • Keep abreast of trends regarding national trends and mandates surrounding relevant topics, such as research publication, data management, and open access requirements • Participate in library-wide planning and policy development through participation in library and university committees and task forces • Other duties as assigned.
