Summary of Position:

The Orthopedic Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors at the orthopedic clinic. This role is responsible for greeting patients, checking them in and out, verifying insurance, collecting payments, scheduling appointments, and ensuring smooth front desk operations. The receptionist plays a key role in maintaining a professional and welcoming environment while supporting the clinic's overall workflow.

Functions of Position: Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Check patients in and out using the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals. Collect co-pays, balances, and other payments and provide receipts. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments accurately. Answer and route incoming phone calls, take messages, and respond to patient inquiries. Ensure patient demographic and contact information is accurate and updated. Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines at all times. Provide patients with necessary forms and assist with completion as needed. Communicate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow. Prepare charts and documentation for upcoming appointments. Assist with scanning and indexing documents into the EHR. Monitor waiting area and address patient needs promptly. Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the Practice Manager Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical office or healthcare front desk experience preferred. Familiarity with insurance verification and basic billing practices. Strong communication and customer service skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Proficient in computer systems, including EMR and Microsoft Office. Ability to multitask and remain calm in high-traffic situations. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Team player with a positive, solutions-focused attitude

Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily at the front desk in a busy clinical office environment. Frequent interaction with patients, families, and staff occurs. The role requires sitting for extended periods, computer use, and the ability to handle multiple interruptions while maintaining accuracy
