JOB INFORMATION
Court Support Clerk Supervisor positions serve as first-line supervisors over a group of Court Support Clerks performing a variety of supervise and participate in specialized and complex clerical work for relative to law enforcement, court, and legal proceedings in the Office of the City Attorney; plan, clerical operations to include assigning, and reviewing the work of subordinates; maintain proper work flow within a clerical unit; provide technical guidance regarding the City Attorney, County, State, and nationwide criminal databases; provide clerical support to deputy city attorneys; compile statistics to assist in determining need for adequate resources; troubleshoot complex and unusual document activity and answers difficult procedural questions related to unit work; research and resolves issues and problems in accordance with established policies and procedures of the City Attorney's Office, courts, and Department of Justice guidelines; coordinate work with other legal units; resolve workload problems and establish priorities within assigned legal unit; assist with the review and implementation of new procedures; participate in the recruitment and selection of staff; train, supervise, evaluate, and rate the work performance of subordinates; provide discipline, rewards and recognition when appropriate; perform functions of the lower-level classes in the series; and perform other duties as assigned. NOTES: Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated. EXPERIENCE: You must meet ONE of the following options: One year of full-time experience as a Court Support Clerk II with the City of San Diego. Three years of clerical experience, which MUST include two years in a legal environment locating, obtaining, and organizing case documents and related information for court or responding to requests for legal discoveries and case inquiries.
NOTE:
City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered. HIGHLY DESIRABLE:
Experience with Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement computer database programs, such as JURIS and SD Law systems. Experience supervising clerical staff which includes employee selection, reviewing/approving timecards, writing and giving performance evaluations, training, disciplining employees and recommending commendations.
