The
Director of Data and Accountability
will co-lead and oversee all aspects of data collection, analysis, and reporting within the district, ensuring that data is effectively used to inform decision-making, drive academic improvement, and ensure accountability. This position will manage district-wide assessments, oversee data systems, and collaborate with school leadership, instructional staff, and external stakeholders to ensure that the district's data-driven strategies align with educational goals and policies. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of data used to monitor student progress, evaluate academic programs, and report on performance outcomes.

The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students attending our 37 schools. PPSD employs more than 3,200 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 20 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 11 high schools and 2 public district charter schools. Of our employees, approximately 2,000 are educators, and more than 600 others directly support students and families in our schools.
Our schools are diverse learning communities. Approximately 68% of our students are Latinx, 15% Black, 7% White, 4% Asian, 5.5% Multi-racial and 1% Native American. Approximately 40% of students are multilingual learners, and about 16% of students receive special education services. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak more than 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree with a focus in education, assessment, or data; Master's preferred MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership, with a strong background in data analysis, assessment management, and accountability systems. Proven experience managing large-scale data systems and assessments in an educational setting. Experience working with K-12 educational data, including standardized testing, formative assessments, and state/federal accountability measures. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local policies related to student performance and accountability. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present data findings to diverse audiences, including school leaders, teachers, parents, and policymakers. Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, student information systems). Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with various district departments and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and solve complex problems. Commitment to equity and the belief that data can be used to improve outcomes for all students. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support for School Leadership: Provide guidance and training to school leaders, teachers, and staff on using data to improve instructional practices and student outcomes. Foster a culture of data use and continuous improvement across the district. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between the district and external agencies (e.g., state education departments, research organizations) on matters related to data and accountability. Collaborate with other district departments, including curriculum, instruction, and student services, to align data initiatives with district goals. Professional Development: Design and implement professional development opportunities for district and school staff on data literacy, assessment strategies, and best practices for using data to drive instructional improvement. Leadership in Data and Accountability: Co-Lead the district's efforts in data-driven decision-making by designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive data and accountability systems that monitor student achievement, school performance, and district effectiveness. Assessment Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and analysis of district-wide assessments, including standardized tests, formative assessments, and interim assessments. Collaborate with curriculum and instruction teams to ensure assessments align with state standards and district priorities. Data Systems Oversight: Manage and maintain district-wide data systems, ensuring data accuracy, security, and accessibility. Work with IT staff and external vendors to enhance the district's data infrastructure and reporting tools. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze academic performance data at the district, school, and student levels to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Produce and present reports to district leadership, the Board of Education, and other stakeholders. Accountability and Compliance: Ensure that the district complies with all state and federal reporting requirements, including those related to standardized testing, accountability systems, and academic performance. Monitor and track progress toward district goals, state benchmarks, and performance metrics.
