DESCRIPTION The Executive Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing financial operations across the entire Health System. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and plays a critical role in strategic financial planning, regulatory compliance, and high-level financial reporting. The Executive Director ensures that financial practices support the organization's mission of delivering high-quality, cost-effective healthcare throughout California.
Job Responsibilities: System-Wide Financial Oversight:
Lead and manage financial operations across all entities, including hospitals, medical groups, and affiliated services. Strategic Planning & Forecasting:
Collaborate with the CFO and executive leadership to develop long-term financial strategies, capital plans, and operational budgets aligned with organizational goals. High-Level Financial Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to the CFO and executive team, including performance metrics, variance analyses, and recommendations for improvement. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with California healthcare financial regulations, including state-specific reporting requirements, reimbursement policies, and audit standards. Budget Development & Management:
Direct the annual budgeting process, monitor expenditures, and manage financial performance to meet or exceed targets. Operational Efficiency & Cost Management:
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement across departments. Lead initiatives to improve financial processes and systems. Leadership & Collaboration:
Serve as a key advisor to the CFO and collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to support financial decision-making. May oversee finance department staff and support their professional development. REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Deep understanding of California healthcare regulations and financial reporting standards. Proven ability to lead complex financial operations and present to executive leadership. Strong analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills. Preferred Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a healthcare setting, within a hospital system. EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration. Preferred Education:
MBA, MHA, or CPA.
