This role serves as a Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator providing technical leadership and guidance for storage tasks at the customer site. The SAN Administrator will support the client's Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure Services (ECIS) Team. The ECIS team is comprised of multiple subsections/technology areas that support operations and provide management of the Government's Enterprise Network virtual and storage infrastructure services to include maintaining the backup and recovery services. The candidate will provide senior level SAN support. This support includes configuration; implementation and management of NetApp SnapCenter and volume snapshots; management software (ONTAP System Manager); recovery procedures; hardware installation; security and access of Logical Unit Numbers (LUNS); and storage capacity and performance. The candidate shall configure all aspects of the SAN hardware and software. The SAN infrastructure supports the virtual and physical server infrastructure, and end user and Government Command file shares. The configuration support requires expert knowledge of storage clusters; software and hardware; Windows operating systems; VMware; and networking technology. The environment also utilizes Internet Small Computer Systems Interface (iSCSI) protocol. The environment is NetApp and VMware based. Job Duties And Responsibilities
Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Storage Area Networks. Resolve SAN tickets escalated from the service desk to include executing the associated administrative activities and provide a weekly Messaging Status report for inclusion into a Weekly Status Report for the client. Provide SAN Capacity Reports and Performance Metrics on a monthly basis. Provide documentation, guidance and instruction to the Tier 1 service desk for handling standard Storage Area Network (SAN) related incidents, work orders and service requests. Provide guidance and instruction to the Tier I organizations for handling standard SAN related incidents and service requests. Provide SAN documentation to Tier I organizations on the procedures for completing SAN related tasks. Submit and execute SAN related Request for Change (RFC) tasks. Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II, Tier III, and other sections as required. Monitor the health of SANs with Government provided event management tools. Provide project support for SAN related technologies. Coordinate with the Engineering Team and other sections on SAN issues. Support change management process; submit requests through the Change Approval Board; and participate in Change Review Boards. Escalate product issues to third party product vendors upon Government approval. Implement thresholds to monitor tools and conduct proactive event remediation. Work closely with Government personnel to continually improve the SAN performance while recommending solutions that reduce the overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and increase the Government's Return on Investment (ROI) for the SAN. Provide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for all responsible technologies in preparation for the annual Commanders Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI). Provision new storage to include LUNs, VMware datastores, and command shares as needed. Perform mailbox restores in conjunction with the Exchange team, utilizing NetApp Single Mailbox Restore (SMBR). Qualifications
Professional series Certification e NetApp (NCDA), EMC (EMCISA), Virtualization cert. IAT III Certification (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH), can attain within 180 days after start date. At least 5 years of experience with managing/configuring SAN storage devices. In-depth understanding of iSCSI, CIFS, and NFS protocols. In-depth knowledge of VMware vCenter, HA, DRS. Understanding of networking, In-depth knowledge of configuring Windows Server. Experience with SnapCenter. Working Conditions
Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Sedentary - 10 lbs.
