Overview
This is an Administrative position for a Township, combining clerical and technical work. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the board of trustees, fiscal office, zoning department, zoning commission, and board of zoning appeals. Duties are performed under the direction of the President of the Board of Trustees.
Base pay range: $25.00/yr - $30.00/yr.
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; evening hours for zoning commission and board of zoning appeals meetings (2–3 Tuesdays a month starting at 6 p.m. for 2–3 hours; may be viewable from home). OT paid on hours over 40; company is flexible.
What you’ll be doing
- This is both a clerical and technical work position for a Township in an Administrative role.
- Provide administrative support to the board of trustees, fiscal office, zoning department, the zoning commission, and the board of zoning appeals.
- Adherence to the township records retention schedule; serves as the clerk for the township’s zoning commission and board of zoning appeals; assist with administrative matters of the township.
- Perform duties under the direction of the President of the Board of Trustees.
- Provide clerical support for the township zoning inspector related to zoning violations and nuisance complaints.
- Maintain all township records including boards and commissions in accordance with the Township’s Record Retention Policy.
- Assist in the compilation of staff reports and presentations related to zoning commission and board of zoning appeals.
- Assist the general public with a variety of administrative and zoning issues and questions.
- Prepare and maintain meeting minutes.
- Assist the township administrator and township zoning inspector with various tasks as assigned.
- Demonstrate a high degree of self-direction and professionalism in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Who we’re looking for
- Preferred associate degree in business administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and related products.
- At least 2–5 years progressively professional work experience.
- Knowledge or experience with township government is preferred.
- Experience taking minutes.
- Possess and continuously maintain a valid Ohio motor vehicle license (however, no on-the-job driving is required).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with township officials, board and commission members, other township employees, and the general public.
- Ability to deal firmly, tactfully, and courteously with the general public.
