Housing Inspector/Technician
Opportunities, Inc. is now hiring. Housing Inspector/Technician staff/public open September 2nd to 8th, 2025 or until filled. Salary: $21.62+ benefits (first year: 15 days annual leave; 12 days sick leave; 11 holidays, health, dental, retirement, vision, etc.) Overall Responsibilities: Ensures Section 8 rental properties are in compliance with Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Housing Quality Standards. The intent of HQS is to establish minimum criteria necessary for decent, safe and sanitary housing. Section 8 housing is inspected initially before a tenant moves into a unit and yearly thereafter during the client's annual examination. Will be expected to become completely familiar with the Agency's mission and philosophy, and fully participate in promoting the accomplishments of the Agency's goals and objectives. Must be an advocate for the low and fixed income, and promote social and economic justice. Qualifications: General knowledge of structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems for residential structures. One or two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use computer and other general office machines. Ability to communicate effectively with people from various social and economic backgrounds. Must be able to comply with background check, inclusive of fingerprints, as required by the Agency. Must not have any prior convictions of physical or sexual abuse of children. Other: Must follow Drug and Alcohol Policies and Procedures. Must have a valid Montana Driver's License, MT required vehicle insurance, a good driving record and reliable transportation. May require evening, weekend and out of town travel and meetings. Confidentiality must be maintained. Must have effective organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Ability to accept and utilize supervision. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop and kneel. An Opportunities, Inc.
