Overview

CAP Government, Inc.a division of Bureau Veritasis seeking a licensed Building Plans Examiner and Inspector for inspection and plan review services of construction projects. The work involves interpretation and application of regulations, review of building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents. Some travel will be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player. Responsibilities

Conduct examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings and all other required documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations. Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction. Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations. Meet with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues arising during the plan review process. Prepare and maintain all required records and reports. Inspect buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations as required by the supervisor. Respond to inquiries from homeowners, contractors, architects, engineers, and others regarding codes and review procedures. Perform general administrative/office duties as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, filing documents, and answering the telephone. Review and submit building plans, shop drawings, engineering reports, permit applications, job pricing records, code compliance complaints, and related documents. Interact with supervisors, co-workers, department personnel, property/home owners, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, county personnel and the public. Review permits for residential and commercial projects to ensure conformity with applicable codes. Enforce and explain pertinent sections of the applicable codes; issue verbal and written notices of code violations and citations as needed. Assist in resolving complex customer service issues, either personally or in writing. Maintain records and documentation of customer service issues and resolutions. Research problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential work and code compliance. Maintain high ethical standards. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager. Position Requirements

Licensed General Contractor for a minimum of five (5) years; and State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building; or State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building; or ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in building; and Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations. Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate proposals to verify conformance with code requirements. Salary and Benefits

The starting wage range for this role commences at $35/hour and goes up to $45/hour, contingent on factors like experience, education, licenses, or certifications.
