Surgical Technologist, Certified - Operating Room (40 Hours, Evenings) Join to apply for the Surgical Technologist, Certified - Operating Room (40 Hours, Evenings) role at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Schedule: 40 Hours, Evenings, Every Other Weekend, Full Time, Benefit Eligible Responsibilities
Acts as the primary scrub person who handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary, prior to and during the surgical procedure. Provides technical assistance during procedures in the operating room. Provides patient care within prevailing national and state standards of practice and the policies of the facility. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the OR Manager, including providing patient care in other areas. Understands the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintains the sterile field. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Ensures scrubs and donning of gowns and gloves are completed. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures. Maintains highest standard of sterile techniques during procedures. Prepares sterile dressings. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilizations. Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of rooms. Assists in prepping room for the next patients. Qualifications
Education: High School diploma. Completion of an approved surgical technologist course. Experience: 1 year of surgical experience. Certification/Licensure: Certified as a Surgical Technologist, BLS. Equal Opportunity
