General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Duties include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and performing a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require. Additional tasks may be assigned to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors. Maintains a safe, clutter-free sales floor and clear egress to emergency exits. Reports unsafe conditions to store leadership. Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greets customers, assists with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Responds promptly to customer service calls and elevates issues to leadership when needed. Represents and supports the company brand at all times. Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store cleanliness and restrooms, replenishes restroom supplies, and maintains professional appearance per dress code. Expedited merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandised items per company guidelines to monthly presentation standards. Follows loss prevention and merchandise protection standards and MOS policies. Demonstrates integrity and safeguarding of confidential information, cash, and merchandise. Maintains awareness of cash handling procedures and store security. Demonstrates sense of urgency and efficiency in daily tasks.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs and registers.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
• Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
• Stockroom shifts may involve lifting more than 20 pounds.
