Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: Washington, D.C. | ONSITE | Monday - Friday
Division/ Department: Administration / Human Resources
FLSA: Full Time, Exempt
Reports To: HR Director
Travel: 10% or less (one Summer trip to Oklahoma City offices per year).
Direct Reports: None
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 DOE

The Museum of the Bible is a global, innovative, educational institution whose purpose is to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible. The Recruiter/HR Associate is a pivotal role on Museum of the Bible’s Human Resources team. Along with other team members, he/she is responsible for high-volume recruitment as well as onboarding/new hire orientation and other general HR & administrative functions. In addition, this position provides support to all MOTB employees on HR-related initiatives and projects. This position requires a high-energy, fun disposition, and it is often the first face of MOTB to potential employees and supports engagement by taking a lead role on the Fun Committee. Experience & success in this role will lead to an expanded career as a Generalist.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee timely full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions with minimal supervision, to include: hiring manager partnership, posting, selection & screening interviews, negotiation, to final hire of qualified job applicants
  • As needed, compose and update job descriptions to include all pertinent information as well as salary analysis & recommendations
  • Understand HR laws and compliance, especially with respect to recruitment
  • Initiate background checks and employee eligibility verifications such as I-9 and E-Verify
  • Coordinate & conduct new hire orientation
  • Manage the employee-facing digital boards
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors/managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Provide a lead role and represent HR on the Fun & Connectivity committee
  • Partner in making purchases for HR: Fun Committee food/drinks & other supplies (on Amazon, Oriental Trading, etc.)
  • Execute on employee recognition programs
  • Assist with compiling and reporting of HR metrics
  • Provide administrative support, such as employment verifications, mailings, etc.
  • Remain knowledgeable in DC Paid Family leave standards, FMLA, and other leaves and assist employee processing.
  • Keep abreast of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; and review policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law—and provide continuous process improvement suggestions for the department
  • Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible
  • As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in recruitment and a similar Human Resources capacity
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws, especially DC regulations
  • HR certification a plus

Skills

  • Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), with the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
