Fairfax Neonatal Associates is seeking a strategic, hands-on HR Director to lead the HR function and drive organizational success through talent management, compliance, and employee engagement. This role oversees the full spectrum of human resources functions including full-cycle recruitment, benefits administration, performance management, leadership development, employee relations, HR compliance, and HR systems management.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader and trusted advisor with deep knowledge of HR systems, especially Paylocity, and a strong commitment to operational excellence, confidentiality, and employee support.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and hiring recommendations.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to develop compelling job descriptions.
- Facilitate smooth onboarding processes, ensuring benefit enrollment, credentialing, and payroll setup are completed via Paylocity, with vendors and other HR platforms.
HR Systems & Operations
- Oversee the use, maintenance, and optimization of the Paylocity HRIS, including modules for payroll, benefits administration, time tracking, performance management, and reporting.
- Train staff and managers on effective use of HR systems and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Ensure employee data integrity across systems and support reporting for audits, compliance, and leadership analysis.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and digital efficiency through HR technology.
- Serve as the administrator for Paylocity, responsible for troubleshooting and resolving system issues across modules including payroll, timekeeping, onboarding, benefits, and performance management.
- Customize and build system workflows, forms, and templates within Paylocity to meet organizational needs. Partner with internal teams and Paylocity support to ensure the system is configured for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Create, maintain, and update standardized HR templates and documents, including but not limited to: performance management forms and evaluation templates; job descriptions and requisition templates; recruiting tools, interview guides, and onboarding checklists.
Leadership Development & Training
- Develop and implement employee development and leadership training programs.
- Support career planning, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
- Guide managers through performance evaluations and performance improvement plans.
- Manage the employee tuition assistance and clinical scholarship programs.
Benefits Administration
- Manage full-cycle benefits administration: medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k).
- Lead the annual renewal and benefits enrollment process.
- Educate employees on benefit offerings, changes, and enrollment using system tools.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide guidance on sensitive employee relations issues, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, HR policies, and internal procedures.
- Recommend policy updates and maintain the employee handbook in accordance with current laws and best practices.
Strategic HR & Engagement
- Partner with the leadership team to enhance the organization's overall talent management strategy.
- Lead the People Committee and participate in evening board, finance, and management meetings.
Compensation & Benefits Strategy
- Conduct compensation benchmarking and internal equity reviews.
- Develop and refine total rewards strategy to support talent attraction and retention.
Performance Management & Reporting
- Facilitate organization-wide performance review processes via Paylocity or similar platforms.
- Ensure timely and accurate HR reporting for audits, compliance, and leadership insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred: SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR).
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with Paylocity HRIS is strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of employment law, benefits, medical credentialing, and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information and sensitive employee matters with discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership and participating in board-level discussions is a plus.
