A school district near Albuquerque, NM is seeking a dedicated Recreational Therapist for the 2025-2026 academic year. This full-time, itinerant position offers a unique opportunity to support K-12 students across multiple schools, helping them develop essential social, physical, and coping skills.

Location & Schedule: Based in Los Lunas, NM, approximately 30 miles outside Albuquerque Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM Contract duration: August 1, 2025, to May 22, 2026 Onsite role with travel to various district school sites Key Responsibilities: Facilitate group activities to enhance social skills in students with autism Implement structured physical exercises for students with ADHD to manage energy levels Support students with developmental delays by promoting gross motor skill development through adapted sports Encourage student participation in community recreational programs to foster social integration Assist students managing stress, anxiety, or depression with relaxation and coping techniques Qualifications: Must hold New Mexico Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification Experience working with diverse student populations including those with autism, ADHD, and developmental delays Ability to travel between multiple school sites within the district Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage students in therapeutic recreational activities Benefits include meaningful work in an educational setting and the opportunity to make a positive impact on students' lives.
