A full-time Recreational Therapist position is available for the upcoming school year in the Los Lunas area, approximately 30 miles outside Albuquerque, NM. This role supports K-12 students within a school district through a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities designed to enhance social skills, motor development, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities: Facilitate group games to help students with autism develop social interaction and communication skills. Implement structured physical activities tailored to support students with ADHD in managing their energy levels effectively. Assist students with developmental delays in improving gross motor skills via adapted sports and recreational programs. Encourage community integration by teaching students with disabilities to utilize local recreational resources. Provide coping strategies and relaxation techniques to support students experiencing stress, anxiety, or depression. Travel between multiple school sites within the district as part of an itinerant schedule. Qualifications: Current New Mexico Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (NM CTRS) certification is required. Experience working with children and adolescents across diverse developmental and behavioral needs. Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 35 students with varying disabilities. Strong communication skills and flexibility to work across multiple school locations. Passion for promoting student wellness and community inclusion. Schedule & Location: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM). Onsite travel to multiple school sites within the district.
