The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Engineering Technician 6 functions in a senior lead engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform design assignments by applying engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex concepts. Provide technical guidance and may direct other engineering professionals. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with AutoDesk Inventor (SDS) and advanced experience with physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS). Team Context

Engineering Standards: provide guidance by utilizing knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and BV policies and procedures; review project requirements and determine the correct format and contents of deliverables Quality / Continuous Improvement: promote quality within the project/group, review design inputs for consistency, ensure deliverables comply with codes and standards, maintain drawing control and historical records Engineering Production: apply basic engineering principles to develop moderately complex design concepts; perform design calculations, material quantities and estimates; use advanced design software; review others\' deliverables; define work assignments and schedules; participate in plant start-up activities in specialized areas Project Coordination: coordinate with design group personnel, support field activities as needed, communicate project design requirements, progress and schedules Client Focus: assist in identifying key client interests and drivers, communicate these to the project team and develop approaches to address concerns Knowledge Sharing and Innovation: assist in developing design standards and process improvements; identify training needs; may be recognized for expertise in areas People Management: assist with performance management processes, mentoring, career planning, and supervising engineering technicians Resource Management: monitor staffing levels and skill sets; assist in identifying resource needs and process requirements Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology (preferred) Bachelor Degree in Engineering Design Technology (preferred) Typically a minimum of 8 years related experience Technical: Advanced experience with AutoDesk Inventor (SDS); advanced experience with physical substation design (AIS and/or GIS); proficiency with CADD, information modeling, document storage systems; knowledge of engineering standards and BV policies Knowledge/Skills: ability to interpret engineering deliverables; knowledge of construction and constructability principles; knowledge of procurement, contract administration, and project controls Minimum Qualifications
