The Director of Philanthropy, Major Gifts will be an experienced, take-charge professional with the ability to provide the vision, strategy and leadership in securing major gifts to support the Ivy Brain Tumor Center (IBTC). As a member of the Barrow Neurological Foundation development staff, you will be responsible for growing and maintaining a comprehensive major gifts program focused on attracting gifts in excess of $10,000 (or the defined major gift threshold). The Director builds strong relationships with major giving donors and prospects, and actively develops a major giving pipeline of larger gifts and increased revenue in support of the IBTC. This funding will be critical to the sustainability and success of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center, whose multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists are accelerating drug discovery and precision medicine in neuro-oncology in an effort to identify the most promising first-in-class therapies for brain tumor patients. Must be able to develop strong personal relationships with key donors, enabling them to achieve their philanthropic goals along with aligning those goals with the goals of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center. Must also be capable of building strong internal relationships with the research and clinical staff of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center to leverage their experience and influence to close major gifts, in addition to gaining alignment with the leadership and founder of the Ivy Foundation to understand and adopt the overall philanthropic philosophy. This critical position reports directly to the President and Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Barrow Neurological Foundation. Key Competencies

Superior strategic and analytic thinking ability, along with strong creative problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms. Experience working effectively with Board members, volunteers, donors and other external constituencies. Qualifications

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree. Minimum Experience Required: Minimum five (5) years of not-for-profit fundraising and development experience. In addition three (3) to five (5) years’ direct work experience as a fundraising professional with a major gift portfolio. Preferred Education, Certifications and Skills: Master’s Degree in a related field. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Demonstrated accomplishments in healthcare and/or research fundraising.
