A qualified Sign Language Interpreter is needed for an elementary school setting to support a 3rd-grade student in a general education classroom. This contract position provides interpreting services in Eureka, California, with a schedule of 30 hours per week from 7:50 AM to 2:15 PM. The assignment begins ASAP and continues through June 4th, 2026.
A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully. Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation services for a 3rd-grade student within a general education classroom. Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers to enhance educational accessibility. Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure the students needs are met in compliance with educational guidelines. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Adapt interpretation styles as necessary to match the students learning environment. Qualifications: EIPA rating of 4.0 or higher, or fluency in ASL as a paraprofessional. Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational settings. Strong understanding of sign language interpreting techniques and educational terminology. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary educational team. Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. Location: Eureka, California Schedule: 30 hours per week Monday to Friday, 7:50 AM to 2:15 PM This opportunity is ideal for skilled sign language interpreters passionate about supporting students with hearing impairments in an elementary education setting.
