An exciting opportunity is available for a full-time Special Education Teacher serving students in grades K-6, primarily focusing on grades 5-6, within a K-12 school setting. This contract position will be based in Waterbury, CT, and runs for the duration of the nine-month school year. The role involves managing a self-contained intensive education classroom with a small group of 8 to 10 students, providing focused, individualized support to meet diverse learning and behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom environment. Utilize Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI), and autism-specific strategies to enhance student learning outcomes. Collaborate with a team of six paraprofessionals to implement educational plans and interventions. Monitor student progress and adapt instructional approaches accordingly. Maintain detailed records of student performance and behavior. Foster a supportive and structured learning environment that encourages student growth and development. Qualifications: Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with K-6 students, preferably with a focus on grades 5-6. Background or training in ABA, DTI, and autism interventions. Ability to manage a small, intensive classroom setting involving multiple paraprofessionals. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families. Location:Waterbury, CT Schedule:Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:40 AM to 4:00 PM, following the traditional nine-month school calendar.
