A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at a K-6 school focusing primarily on grades 5-6. This contract role spans the normal school year with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:40 AM to 4:00 PM in Cheshire, CT.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction in a self-contained, intensive education classroom.
Manage a classroom size of 8 to 10 students with disabilities.
Collaborate with a team of six paraprofessionals to meet diverse student needs.
Implement instructional strategies tailored for students requiring applied behavioral analysis and discrete trial instruction.
Support students on the autism spectrum and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working as a Special Education Teacher within K-6 education.
Proficiency in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) techniques.
Knowledge of Discrete Trial Instruction methods.
Background in teaching students with autism.
Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and other staff.
