A Special Education Teacher is needed to support middle school students with mild to moderate needs near Tecumseh, MI. This contract position runs from August 18, 2025, to June 12, 2026 (official dates TBD) and requires in-person attendance during school hours. The ideal candidate will hold a Michigan Special Education certification with a Cognitively Impaired (CI) or Autism endorsement and have experience working with students diagnosed with Autism or cognitive impairments.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs across grades 4 through 8 Manage a caseload of 11 students, ensuring personalized academic, social, and emotional support Collaborate with general education staff, families, and support personnel to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to promote growth and development Maintain a positive and nurturing classroom environment Qualifications: Valid Michigan Special Education certification with CI or Autism endorsement Proven experience working with students on the Autism spectrum or with cognitive impairments Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to respond sensitively to student needs Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with staff and families Commitment to in-person teaching from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm, with arrival and departure within 10 minutes of scheduled times Location: Near Tecumseh, MI Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday through Friday during school calendar) This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the academic and social lives of middle school students requiring specialized educational support.
