Overview

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, Pardee School of Global Studies – Boston University. The Assistant Director works under the leadership of the Faculty Director to manage day-to-day operations of the CURA: The Institute on Culture, Religion & World Affairs, coordinate academic programs, and provide administrative and program support to the Director. Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage the center’s day-to-day operations and academic programs. Develop, manage, advertise, and schedule a broad range of center events (workshops, symposia, conferences, etc.). Oversee the center’s operational budget and prepare/maintain financial reports and correspondence, including filing financial reports. Build public awareness of CURA’s work by sharing the mission, vision, and activities with relevant academic and media audiences. Foster partnerships and increase engagement with CURA’s research through established channels (email, social media, website) to enable dialogue with target audiences and stakeholders including media, scholars, and partners. Hire and supervise student workers and contractors as required. Manage curricula and events related to Muslim Studies; support the MENA studies program; manage CURA’s program for visiting scholars/researchers; administer the CURA colloquium and CURA Fellows program. Interact with students, student organizations, faculty, staff, and other parties as information sources; manage the Director’s calendar and support related research. Maintain CURA website updates and weekly reports on faculty and student activities; coordinate social media updates; collaborate with BU faculty and student organizations related to religion and world affairs; plan joint events with CURA-linked students. Implement CURA’s media and communications strategy to build awareness and influence; share CURA’s mission with academic audiences and broader media. Support grant applications and oversight of sponsored research in collaboration with Pardee Finance Office and BU Sponsored Research Administration; ensure compliance with university and school policies. Coordinate event-related tasks (room reservations, travel, speaker arrangements, post-event activities, reimbursements). Assist with updating CURA-related course lists, notifying departments and CURA-linked students of relevant courses each semester. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with 5-8 years of experience. Excellent writing skills, project management experience, ability to work independently, and strong stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of religious studies and/or social sciences preferred but not required. Experience with SAP software is a strong plus.
