Global Sourcing and Procurement

and our organization delivers procurement value to support stakeholders and organizational strategic objectives. The Global Sourcing and Procurement (GSP) function leads transformation and implements category strategies that support the corporate strategy. GSP leverages market intelligence, subject matter expertise and business insights in the procurement of goods and services and manages BioMarin’s growing third party spend of $1B+. Through collaboration with external suppliers and internal business partners, GSP helps bring innovative new medicines to patients. Role and Reporting

The Sr. Director, Technical Operations Sourcing & Procurement will be part of the GSP Leadership Team and reports to the Vice President of Global Sourcing and Procurement. This role leads a team of experienced procurement professionals focused on establishing and executing category strategies in support of BioMarin and the management of $600M+ annual spend. The primary customer group is the Technical Operations organization which manufactures medicine for patients through internal and external sites. The role is responsible for leading a group of procurement professionals in supporting BioMarin and the Technical Operations Organization across the following categories: Direct Materials: Single use technologies, resin, chemical & media Primary and secondary packaging Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) & Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) Construction and other Capital Spend Facilities Management Real Estate Site services The role will collaborate closely with category leaders from across the GSP organization to ensure that all of TOPS is fully supported and optimized, regardless of GSP reporting structures. This leader plays a key role within the TOPS Leadership Team and will be accountable for leading and aligning GSP with current and future Manufacturing Site strategic objectives. Responsibilities

Sourcing and category management strategies: spearhead creation and implementation of sourcing strategies to drive savings and risk mitigation, drive process improvement through transformational projects; support the team in the implementation of such strategies. Supplier Relationship Management: create and implement collaborative business plans with strategic suppliers; optimizes supplier performance with a “one BioMarin” view, seek opportunities to right size the supply base. Negotiations: Lead complex negotiations that require a detailed strategic plan and have a direct correlation with BioMarin’s operational and business goals. Results Focused: drive to measurable outcomes by delivering hard and soft savings, develop appropriate SLA’s/ KPI’s to track performance. Create a multi-year road map of opportunities. Source to Pay Transformation: create strategy and operational input into transformation efforts, process and technology solutions; collaborate across the value stream to optimize outputs. Compliance: ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, collaborate closely with the Quality organization, actively support internal audit efforts, as needed. Strategy & Leadership

Business Strategies: plan strategically and align projects with BioMarin goals; design, develop and shepherd sourcing and category strategies that enable world class procurement execution. See ambiguity as an opportunity to drive change, establish new ways of working and create clarity. Stakeholder Management: build credibility through strong relationships and a track record of results; manage senior stakeholders across functions and foster cross-functional alignment; be the point of procurement accountability for the Technical Operations Leadership team; develop productive relationships with key suppliers. Strategic partner to Corporate Finance & TOPS Leadership on key corporate initiatives. Leadership: provide excellent leadership to the team, participate as a GSP Leadership Team member, understand GSP capabilities and advocate for the organization. Finance Collaboration: align with the VP of Procurement and GSP peers to develop and operationalize strategies; partner with Finance to support stakeholders. External perspective: maintain awareness of industry trends and practices through participation in industry organizations, bringing knowledge to the team and stakeholders. Source to Pay mindset: demonstrate deep knowledge of the Source to Pay process and supporting technology. Ways of working: be the subject matter expert on evolving procurement practices and standards. Operational Focus

Source to Pay Transformation: contribute to transformation efforts and technology solutions; optimize outputs. Compliance: ensure compliance with policies and audit efforts as needed. Key Skills Required

Proven experience in a senior procurement leadership role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors, with regulatory experience and strong executive presence. Experience with procurement technology, preferably Ariba / SAP Knowledge of sourcing direct materials, primary packaging, CMOs/CDMOs, facilities management, and site services Expertise in supplier management and complex contract negotiations Results-driven with a growth mindset Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally Motivated, high-energy, curious, self-starter with a strong business mindset Experience working in a matrix (global/regional) environment Strong networking skills and ability to build collaborative relationships Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, and influencing skills Ability to work in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field. MBA or related postgraduate qualification is an advantage. Area of Specialization

Sourcing & Procurement, Direct Materials, Supply Chain. Global experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector. 15+ years of experience in Procurement/Sourcing/Supply Chain Knowledge of procurement tools such as sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review and development; Ariba and SAP preferred Demonstrated expertise in category strategy development and stakeholder management Understanding of external environment and supplier relationship models Strong knowledge of finance and contracting law Understanding of business value, priorities, and implementation risks Travel

Periodic travel will be required to various BioMarin sites and supplier locations Workstyle

This position is hybrid requiring a local presence. Novato campus onsite requirements are 2x each week. The salary range for this position is: $212,000 to $290,000. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
